Cosmetic plastic surgery of the face can “turn
back time” by reducing the appearance of wrinkles
and lines, sun damage and sagging skin that can make
you look angry, sad or tired. Listed below are
some of the procedures we offer to help you look as
young and energetic as you feel.

As people grow older, the skin
of the face begins to wrinkle and sag, with the help
of gravity and time. Exposure to the sun, genetic
influences and other factors can contribute to the
effects of aging. A facelift can correct these conditions
and give people a more youthful appearance. This procedure
involves the tightening of facial and neck skin and
muscles, as well as the removal of excess skin.
Facelift incisions are placed in areas where they
are minimally visible. The objective is to elevate
the underlying structures and redrape the skin on
the face in order to give a more youthful, healthy
and rested appearance.
Blepharoplasty,
or eyelid tucks, are very common in patients over
40. This is a procedure to remove fat, along with
excess skin, from the upper and lower eyelids. Eyelid
surgery can correct drooping upper lids and the puffy
bags under the eyes - features that make you look
older and more tired than you feel.
The effect is to give the eyes
a more rested, youthful look with a brighter appearance.
Blepharoplasty can be performed on the upper lids,
lower lids or both and can also be performed in conjunction
with other facial procedures.

A forehead lift or "browlift"
is a procedure that restores a more youthful, refreshed,
and cheery look to the forehead, eye brows and upper
eyelid areas. By removing excess skin and muscle,
the procedure corrects drooping brows, improves the
horizontal lines and furrows that can make you look
angry, sad or tired, and tightening the skin of the
upper eyelid.
The incisions are well hidden
along the frontal hairline or in the hair, and with
the use of an endoscope (a small camera that allows
the procedure to be performed with minimal incisions),
the incisions are almost impossible to see. The particular
type of incision to be used is dependent on your goals
and desires. Also, a forehead lift is often performed
in conjunction with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty)
or a facelift to provide a smoother, overall balanced
look to the eyes and face.
Rhinoplasty is performed to change the nose to a more aesthetically
pleasing appearance. Sometimes a hump is removed,
or the nose is narrowed. The maneuvers are tailored
to the individual's nose and the client's wishes.
Rarely, but more commonly in revision rhinoplasty,
cartilage might be used to augment the nose to improve
its appearance or correct functional concerns.
Otoplasty is performed to set
back a person's ear which is basically too prominent.
This procedure is normally performed on children,
although it is not uncommon for adults to have this
procedure. The minimum age is 5 years. The recovery
period for both children and adults is 5-7 days.
Otoplasty in the child is often covered by health
insurance.
The newest innovation in facial rejuvenation comes to Long Island. Dr. Adler of Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C., has performed Long Island’s first “Ribbon Lift”. This minimally-invasive procedure rapidly sculpts the neck and eliminates jowls by utilizing uniquely designed “ribbons”, deployed through mini-incisions placed either in the hairline or behind the ear. The devices rejuvenate the face by repositioning tissues and gently eliminating skin folds.
Dr. Adler believes that this new procedure has several advantages over the so-called “thread lift”. The Endotine Ribbons ™ dissolve after the healing process is complete, while the barbed threads are permanent and can often be felt. Additionally, this procedure allows us to selectively tighten skin and can be integrated with other aspects of facial plastic surgery. |
