Is it important to you that your cosmetic surgeon is board-certified in plastic surgery? Do you think it’s important for plastic surgeons to take continuing medical education credits and attend industry conferences? If your answers are “not really”, you should think again.

Recently, all of the three of the partners of Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C…Drs. Hilton Adler, Stephen Coccaro, and Kenneth Kneessy…attended the annual aesthetic meeting of the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (ASAPS) in San Francisco, California. This meeting was arguably the largest and most important aesthetic meeting of the year.

By attending, plastic surgeons learn the latest techniques and advances in the industry. They return with greater understanding as well as with tips and techniques for further enhancing the patient’s plastic surgery experience. Oftentimes, they bring new technology home as well.

The doctors return from these conferences excited to put what they’ve learned into action. A couple of the hot topics at the ASAPS this year had to do with advancements we already offer at Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C., like CoolSculpting™. This non-invasive body contouring treatment permanently freezes away stubborn fat without needles, surgery or down-time! Patients often watch TV, read, or even nap during their treatment! CoolSculpting™ has been getting rave reviews across the nation as the go-to treatment for love handles, flanks, and most recently inner thighs. We were the first Suffolk County plastic surgical group to offer it.

There was also great buzz around the explosion in popularity of new cohesive gel breast implants. Commonly referred to as “Gummy bear” implants, these durable implants are the biggest advancement in breast augmentation in ages. They offer women a choice of natural, anatomically-shaped implants in addition to the standard round-shaped implant option.

Fat-grafting was another hot topic and something already offered at Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C. Plastic surgeons are noticing a high demand for this procedure which uses a patient’s own body fat as a filler, for example, to reduce their facial lines and fill in hollows.

A new therapy is also coming soon to Suffolk Plastic Surgeons, P.C., so be sure to stay tuned for the announcement on the blog and Facebook.

Don’t you deserve a plastic surgeon that is always learning new things? One who doesn’t rest on his or her laurels? One who is cutting edge in terms of technique and technology? Would you trust your face or body to anyone less?
